The Official MAN OF STEEL Synopsis Is Here, And It’s Familiar
Back in April this site MovieNewz ran a so-called official synopsis for The Man of Steel and I took to Twitter all enraged and being like ‘Why would other sites run a story sourced to this random page nobody ever heard of that can’t even spell itself right?’ I was so enraged.
And then a few months later the official synopsis pops up on a Vancouver casting call for The Man of Steel and it’s the exact same wording. Exact.
In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
Oh well! I guess MovieNewz got it right. Still, I’m glad I didn’t run that original story because you really have to draw a line. Simply showing up on the internet does not make something eligible for coverage. You gotta trust your sources. Of course now MovieNewz seems more trustworthy… even though the same article has them claiming Metallo is the villain.
