Martin Scorsese’s George Harrison: Living in the Material World is a documentary about the late Beatle, and if it’s anything like Scorsese’s Dylan doc, No Direction Home, it’s going to be great. The film will play at the New York Film Festival but apparently goes straight to HBO after that; at 205 minutes a theatrical release does seem unlikely, I suppose.
George may have been the most intriguing Beatle. Only Ringo was a less likely pop star, but George is different from Ringo in that he was as blazingly talented as John and George. But it’s George’s spiritual interests that make him so interesting to me. While John is my favorite Beatle (cliche, I know), George is the Beatle who most endlessly fascinates me.
