A STORM OF SWORDS Will Need Two Seasons, Says GAME OF THRONES Showrunner

David Benioff isn’t sure HBO will give the show a third season, but if they do it will only tell half the story of A STORM OF SWORDS.

I’ve long held that not only could A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords be made into single seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones, but that A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons could be combined to make one season. Turns out David Benioff, one of the two show-runners tasked with bringing George RR Martin’s fantasy novels to the screen, disagrees.

“A Storm of Swords will not be a single season,” Benioff told the Daily Beast. That seems pretty cut and dried, although he does follow up saying, “Beyond that, we’d rather not speculate, as HBO has not yet confirmed a third season and we’re not in the mood to jinx anything.”

The show is currently filming its second season, and I would pretty much bet that HBO brings it back for a third. Here’s the thing, though - where do you cut A Storm of Swords? For those in the know, let me guess: The Red Wedding. For those not in the know, a) don’t Google that and b) if that’s where they end it the season finale will fucking KILL YOU.
