Neil Marshall To Direct An Episode Of GAME OF THRONES

The director of THE DESCENT and CENTURION will go to Westeros in season two of HBO’s hit series.

Neil Marshall, director of great films like The Descent, Dog Soldiers and Doomsday (don’t argue that one with me) has signed on as one of the directors for season two of HBO’s Game of Thrones. This will be the first time that Marshall has directed an episode of TV.

Now we speculate what episode it will be. I’m betting on the episode featuring The Battle of Blackwater, a major naval engagement that occurs this season. It’s an episode that will require all of the ingenuity a low budget filmmaker like Marshall has to be fully realized.

Whatever the episode is, I hope it’s just a quick stop before Marshall begins working on his next film. And by the way, if you’re in Los Angeles, our own Brian Collins will be hosting a midnight screening of Marshall’s The Descent at the New Beverly Cinema this Saturday. You can buy tickets right here.

UPDATE: George RR Martin has confirmed that Marshall will direct episode nine, Blackwater. Click here for his thoughts. Thanks to the many folks who brought this to my attention.
