THE IRON LADY Trailer: Chumming The Oscar Waters

What if the story of Margaret Thatcher was a plucky feel-good tale? Find out.

Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar (unsuccessfully) tried to contextualize the evil of one of this nation's most heinous figures. Now it looks like The Iron Lady is doing the same for the UK, presenting a fairy tale portrait of Margaret Thatcher as a brave woman overcoming the patriarchy to... well, bring England into a useless war in the Falklands, destroy the power of unions, be Ronald Reagan's best friend overseas, etc etc etc.

But it's going to win Meryl Streep an Oscar.

I do hope I'm wrong; I don't mind seeing Thatcher somewhat humanized (we're all humans, even the worst of us), but I don't want to see history revised.
