Ethan Hawke Teases After Sunset But Before Sunrise. Or After Sunrise But Before Sunset

Linklater, Hawke and Delpy are talking about getting together for another romantic day.

Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater have made a duo of small, lovely films called Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. The two films, each about a single day in the lives of characters Jesse and Celine, were released nine years apart. We're rapidly coming up on another nine year span, and Ethan Hawke tells Allocine we may get a chance to revisit these characters one more time.

"Well, I don't know what we're going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months. All of three of us have been having similar feelings that we're ready to revisit those characters. There's nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we're really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We're going to try write it this year."

I wouldn't mind a new one of these films every nine years, giving us a brief glimpse of these characters as they grow old. Hell, I would like to see one last movie after one of the two actors has died, bringing closure.

It's interesting that Linklater keeps being drawn to projects that tell the story of the passage of time; he is still working on his Untitled 12 Year Project, a movie that he is shooting over the course of 12 years.
