Jeremy Renner talked to Empire about The Bourne Legacy, which sees him taking over the franchise from Matt Damon. The scoopmeisters at Empire got the character's name out of him (Aaron Cross. Does this mean something I'm missing? Empire touts it as an exclusive, so I'm led to believe this name has some resonance in the franchise that I'm missing out on), as well as some really vague details about how Legacy is like - but also unlike! - the other Bourne films.
"For fans of the franchise, [The Bourne Legacy] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new programme and new characters," he says. It'll still be Treadstone, though. "Yeah, it's that same deal, it's just a new set of agents with a different leash. It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a Bourne movie."
The idea of the film being more expansive and bigger is interesting - I never felt like the Bourne films suffered from any smallness.
