Benicio Won’t Be Khan After All
Because he won't be in STAR TREK 2.
Latino Review reported last week that Benicio Del Toro would be playing Khan in JJ Abrams' Star Trek 2. JJ Abrams said that Del Toro would NOT be playing Khan. Turns out he was telling the truth... because Del Toro won't be in the movie at all.
Vulture is reporting that Del Toro's deal fell apart (I wonder how much had to do with Abrams' insistence on not letting his actors even read the script), but they also confirm that Khan IS the villain in the film. So Del Toro probably was going to be playing the character.
With two sources reporting Khan, can we doubt that he's truly the villain? I'd like to judge this movie on its own merits, but how can I, when it insists on riding the merits of another movie?
