The Golden Globes Open Thread

Awards season continues on, deadening our souls and elevating mediocre, shitty movies. Tonight it's the Golden Globes. Chat along with fellow badasses here.

The Golden Globes is one of the biggest awards shows on the movie calendar, and is considered one of the primary predictors for the Oscars. They're given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a horrible group of junket whores who have been accused of being able to be bought by movie studios for remarkably cheap prices. Click here to read one expose about this despicable group of inhumans, and then click here to read about last year's lawsuit about kickbacks and bribes.

I will say this for the Golden Globes: they have the good sense to have a comedy category and they also have the good sense to have an open bar, so the event itself is often kind of a drunken mess. This is the best awards show to actually watch because the celebrities don't take it too seriously and everybody is sort of lit. It's also interesting because they do TV awards; the TV people have to sit in the back of the ballroom, away from the actually famous movie people up front.

I won't be live blogging the awards - there's just too much of that going on and I'm not drunk enough - but this is the place for you guys to discuss the show as it goes. I'll pop in and give my two cents here, as well as on my Twitter account: @devincf.
