BEAUTY AND THE BEAST To Be One Of Guillermo del Toro’s Many Temporary Projects

Sure, we might see this one day.

Guillermo del Toro is one of my favorite directors, but I tend to proceed with caution when I hear the news that he's attached to any film, as the man seems to abandon as many projects as he undertakes. But for now, we're hearing the news that he's going to produce and direct Beauty and The Beast, starring Emma Watson as presumably the beauty, although it would be super rad if she were cast as the beast. The script will be written by Andrew Davies, who has written a ton of great British projects including the excellent 2008 Sense and Sensibility mini-series and Bridget Jones's Diary, but who also wrote the 2011 Three Musketeers script that had them battling the motherloving apocalypse, so who knows.

Del Toro is currently shooting Pacific Rim, to which we all say amen, and he's also working on or attached to Trollhunters for DreamWorks, a Haunted Mansion movie for Disney, and Jekyll/Hyde and Frankenstein enterprises for Universal, so we'll see which of these projects rise to the top.
