HBO Buys 44TH STREET From NEWSRADIO’s Paul Simms

The single camera comedy focuses on two out-of-work Broadway actors.

HBO has ordered a new single camera spec script from Paul Simms, the creator of NewsRadio, who has also worked on The Larry Sanders Show, Flight of the Conchords and Boardwalk Empire. The comedy will follow two veteran Broadway stars as they hit the pavement, searching for success. The theater world has been a popular backdrop for television lately, with Smash and The Miraculous Year following the dubiously earned success of Glee. I love the romance and drama of Broadway, and Simms' past work is all great. Throw in the HBO cred and this sounds like a hit. What do you guys think?
