Trailer Reveals Sony Has Given THE RAID A New Title!
Now it's called THE RAID: REDEMPTION. But it still is great!
I have no idea why The Raid has become The Raid: Redemption. I can't even begin to understand it from a basic marketing standpoint, honestly. I mean, this new trailer is trying to pretend that The Raid is a high-falutin' cerebral action picture (it name drops Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), but that isn't really the case. It's a smart action movie, but mostly it's an ass-kicking action movie. Is Redemption added on to give arthouse punters the feeling that the movie has an emotional arc? I hope they aren't holding their breaths too much.
Whatever the title, The Raid is the best action film I have seen in years and years and years, and I can't wait to see it again. Under any stupid name. But I think we'll keep calling it just The Raid.
