Danny Boyle To Direct 007… Or Not.
Update: Looks as if I might have been April Fooled. Should have smelled it when The Hollywood Reporter cited The Sun as a source. For what it's worth, I completely believed Chick Fil-A's Steak Sandwich ad for a whole 90 seconds yesterday. I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in BAD's shed.
Sorry, dick move. But technically true! Danny Boyle, long a fan favorite to helm a James Bond film, will direct a special short featuring 007 which will open the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
The Hollywood Reporter says the short will find Daniel Craig's Bond summoned to Buckingham Palace by Queen Elizabeth for a mission which culminates in the master spy parachuting into Olympic Stadium in Stratford. Hopefully it won't be one of those poorly timed mixed media things involving a filmed portion and some live stunt work that always fails to properly synch up.
Rumor is the Queen herself might appear in the film. I'll leave it to the Bond statisticians to decide if that technically makes Her Majesty a Bond Girl.
