In the original Suspiria Jessica Harper is an impossibly lovely young American girl who attends a German ballet school only to discover it's a front for a coven of witches. The movie is possibly Dario Argento's best film (argue about it in the comments) and is very much a singular vision.
Until now! David Gordon Green is remaking the film, and he's cast his lead - and it's an unusual choice. Isabelle Fuhrman, the star of the underrated Orphan and one of the evil Tributes in The Hunger Games, will be playing the Harper part. Fuhrman is a world away from Harper in looks, type and age - which hopefully signifies that Green is doing something very different with his version.
I'm not particularly excited for a remake of Suspiria, but I do hope that a change of genre helps David Gordon Green get out of the weird slide he's been in lately. I feel bad for admitting this, but I still haven't even been able to bring myself to watch The Sitter.
