Borders Line: For My Birthday, I Want To Scare Your Butts Off!

Houston - Meredith wants to invite you to watch a classic horror movie on 35mm for her birthday. FREE!

On Tuesday, July 24th, I turn 31 years old. And thanks to the very good people at the Houston Alamo Drafthouse, I'm celebrating that milestone the best way I know how: watching a beautiful 35mm print of one of my favorite horror movies!*

The movie's a surprise, but trust me that it's scary, dark, elegant and infinitely rewatchable. I was at a slumber party in third grade when I first saw it, and it has haunted me ever since. I've never seen it on the big screen, and I already know I'm going to be scared gutless when I do. This particular movie is one of the very few that can frighten me on repeat viewings. I've literally had nightmares after watching it, and that never happens to me! I absolutely love to be scared, and it happens so rarely that this seems like the perfect way to celebrate.

I am absurdly excited to spend my birthday in a theater watching a scary movie with my friends and fellow BAD guys. I used to dream of renting out a whole movie theater when I was kid, although at the time I always thought I'd screen that exercise in Canadian surreality known as The Peanut Butter Solution. Maybe I'll do that when I turn 32.

The screening will be held at 7:30pm, Tuesday July 24th at the Alamo Drafthouse Mason Park. Admittance is free, but be sure to order something to eat and drink while you're there and tip your waitstaff generously. And I'm touting this everywhere I can, so show up early to guarantee yourself a seat. And come introduce yourself! I know we've got some Badass Digest readers in Houston, and I want to meet you!

*The movie is not Bloody Birthday. I just like the poster.
