Fifty Shades of Quay in This Week’s Holy Hunter of Music Videos

We didn't forget about you this week! Take a look at videos from Little Red Lung, Purity Ring and Pallbearer.

Behold the abstruse, avant-folk stylings of LA-based ensemble Little Red Lung coupled with the masterful work of director/photographer Sarah Sitkin. It’s a haunting marriage to say the least, set to the tune of a selection from their self-titled March-released EP. Grazing in a bit of Brothers Quay soil, Sitkin acquired prosthetic molds of the members’ faces, feet and hands to produce an animated result that is sincerely spooky. And I’ve watched in its entirety a handful of times even before wrapping up this paragraph.

Best of luck to you in a harefooted search for this Canadian indie-electronic duo’s chosen name, Purity Ring. One is not like the other (and the other might be more effective in the form of a hula hoop). The forever-on-our-radar collective Young Replicant is at the helm again and bring the picturesque and at times grotesque Megan James-delivered lyrics to life. I also have to know if the hook reminded anyone else of those Arrid Extra Dry commercials circa the eighties. "Don’t be shy."

The following is a perfect, fan-driven placeholder for Little Rock doom metal quartet Pallbearer’s future video hoard. And it’s set to Eiichi Yamamoto’s Kanashimi no Belladonna, the final installment of a classic adult anime trilogy known as Animerama. How far may I nudge you down this rabbit hole? Okay, I’ll stop at Animetal because I have to sleep at night.
