Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford And Nic Cage Up For EXPENDABLES 3

I'm sure this casting will totally happen!

This weekend The Expendables 2 opens; I haven't seen it yet but everyone who has says it's the movie you wanted the first one to be. I'll be checking it out at the premiere this week*, and I'll be reviewing it for you guys right after.

But what comes next? There are always more movies. More sequels. More grizzled badasses. Producer Avi Lerner tells Total Film that they have Nicolas Cage lined up for The Expendables 3 (he makes it sound like a done deal, in fact), but he also shared the wishlist for the next film:

“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].”

“And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return]”

Snipes would do it. Ford... maybe? A cameo, perhaps. Just make sure the check clears. And while Rourke would have to be a sadsack to come back after the producer called him crazy, he'd likely show up for the craft services. But Eastwood is another matter. He seems pretty content to just churn out awful movies that critics keep pretending are good. I don't know that he needs the money or the work.

But if Eastwood were to show up in the film, what role could he play? I'd probably cast him as the president, then I'd have a 'funny' series of exchanges between him and Ford about who is the real badass president. Somebody give me a million dollars and a writing credit!
