It's a big deal for us to have the privilege of debuting this exclusive clip of The Master, edited by Paul Thomas Anderson just for Badass Digest and the Alamo Drafthouse. We are on fire to see this movie, which is playing in 70mm at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz in Austin, just as Anderson intended. The film looks spectacular; every moment I've seen is hypnotic and challenging and absolutely breathtaking, filmed on 65mm photography in an audacious stand against the digital trend.
In the clip, Freddie Quell (played by Joaquin Phoenix) gives his impressions of a series of ink blots, revealing a rather singular perspective on the world.
The clip is in honor of a very special advance sneak peek of the film, playing in 70mm at the Ritz on Monday, September 10 at 7:30 pm. All proceeds of the screening will be donated to Martin Scorsese's film preservation organization The Film Foundation. This is an extraordinary opportunity; you do not want to miss it. I'm driving to Austin and back the same day just to be there, so look for my review on Tuesday! Get tickets here!
The Master is in theaters September 21.
