BREAKING: Aaron Paul has joined the cast of Need for Speed, a racing film based on the EA video game and directed by Act of Valor's Scott Waugh. BREAKING: the entire Internet laughs because speed.
I think Paul is the best part of Breaking Bad, the heart and soul of a show that is a little short on heart. His role was originally intended to be brief, but Paul blew away audiences early in his run, securing himself a role that is equal to Bryan Cranston's in significance. He's a brilliant actor who works hard, with tons of smaller IMDb credits to his name before he landed Jesse Pinkman, and I've been dying to know what he'll do once Breaking Bad wraps up this year.
He's evidently great in Smashed, and he has roles lined up in the upcoming Decoding Annie Parker and A Long Way Down. But he made great strides to get the public's attention today by joining Need For Speed, mostly because blogs like punny headlines. I'm not particularly fired up about this title or the creative team behind it (brothers George and John Gatins worked on the screenplay and will produce), but who am I kidding? I'll see it. Aaron Paul has earned a lot of credit with me and it'll take more than a few stinkers before that credit is depleted.
