I want to say something about the Mayan apocalypse: why does everybody assume it would start at midnight in Australia? First of all, the Mayans likely didn't know about time zones, so their calculations were for their own time zone. Second, why would it start at midnight? It could start at any time. The world might very well end at 11:59pm, central time, which would be Mayan time. We'll have to wait and see.
I mean, it won't because the whole thing is stupid and a misunderstanding of the Mayan calendars, but whatever.
Anyway, December 21st did mark the end of something: principal photography on The World's End, the third movie in the Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg/Nick Frost Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy. I don't know if they planned it that (what publicity!) or if it was just a great coincidence, but the production took the opportunity to release the first picture from the flim, which you can see above.
It doesn't tell us much about the movie beyond the fact that it's full of people we really, really like seeing on screen. Which we already knew, but it's nice to have it confirmed. That's a pleasant group of actors in whose company I will happily spend about two hours. I'm really hoping we get some kind of a trailer soon. I'm dying to see something real from the movie!
