The Badass Digest Alternate Oscars: Best Supporting Actor And Actress

Don't agree with this year's Oscar nominations? Vote on ours instead!

Welcome to the first annual Badass Digest Alternate Oscars, in which we, the Badass Digest staff, ask you, the readers, to bestow accolades on those deserving but denied by the Academy this year. 2012 was an incredibly strong year for film, and while the Oscars got some of the nominees right (read the full list here), omissions are inevitable. Here's our chance to honor those left abandoned by traditional award politics.

Let's manufacture a sense of control in a world full of chaos. Let's pretend our votes matter. Let's kick off the BAD Alternate Oscars!

Every week we'll publish a new category, and you can go to our Facebook page to vote on your favorite nominee. We'll publish the full list of winners on Oscar Sunday, February 24. (If you don't have a Facebook profile, we apologize. You can make your voices heard in the comments below. Your votes won't count, but your opinions will be registered in a more general sense.)

Also - speak up below on what nominees you'd like to see in future Alternate Oscar categories.

Alternate Best Actor In A Supporting Role:

Javier Bardem, SKYFALL

Matthew McConaughey, MAGIC MIKE

Yayan Ruhian, THE RAID

James Spader, LINCOLN

Bruce Willis, MOONRISE KINGDOM

Alternate Best Actress In A Supporting Role:

Shanley Caswell, DETENTION

Ann Dowd, COMPLIANCE

Shirley MacLaine, BERNIE

Juno Temple, KILLER JOE

Emma Watson, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

So those are our picks! Head on over to our Facebook page to vote, and stay tuned next week to learn the winner and to vote on another category. And be sure to speak up on whom you feel both the Academy and Badass Digest snubbed in the comments.
