Here's the 'Big Game' commercial for Star Trek Into Darkness, and it pulls few punches. The punches being pulled, mostly, are about the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's character, who still sounds so much like Jean-Luc Picard as to be distracting.
Whoever Cumberbatch is, he's 'better at everything,' which I think lends more credence to the genetically engineered superbeing theory. I'm saying he's engineered from a number of DNA sources, including Khan, thus making him Khan while also making him not exactly Khan.
And what about that shot of the Enterprise pretty much falling into the atmosphere of a planet? Is this movie not only riffing on Wrath of Khan but also the ending of Search for Spock? Somehow I find this even lazier than redoing the Khan radiation chamber scene. This is feeling like a super lazy movie - here's hoping I'm incredibly wrong.
