Look at little Jack Black, all chubby and wide eyed and over the top! Nothing has really changed, huh?
This little bit of weird history is made even more interesting for me by the fact that the commercial namechecks the creator of the game. Does that ever happen anymore in video game commercials? I'm not talking about stuff aimed at gamers or the game press, but mass-market ads? The studio gets namechecked a lot, especially if it's Rock Star or Bungie or something, but not the lead guy. Is this a step backwards for video games? If games were once seen as visions of a creator, does having them be studio-produced product lessen them?
