SXSW BURNING LOVE Show Was A Blast

Ken Marino, Natasha Leggero, Rob Huebel, and Kumail Nanjiani dropped by to make us laugh so hard we pulled something.

Y'all know I love Burning Love, so of course I geeked out to discover they were hosting a comedy showcase during SXSW at Esther's Follies, the legendary comedy club in downtown Austin. Hosted by Ken Marino, the show featured stand-up by Burning Love Seasons One and Two guest stars Natasha Leggero, Rob Huebel, and Kumail Nanjiani, and it was almost impossibly fun, the kind of night that's had me chuckling to myself and quoting jokes days later.

Quick recap: Leggero (who played the no-pants girl on S1) wore a dead fox around her neck because she's fancy, Marino does a mean Michael McDonald impersonation, Huebel showed a series of homeless signs he thinks the drag rats in Austin would benefit from and Kumail read Yahoo! comments from people who think Burning Love is an actual reality show. They showed two episodes from Season Two and a sneak peek of S3, called Burning Down The House, "which is like Bachelor Pad, for those who are familiar with the genre," Marino said. (If, like me, you aren't familiar with the genre outside of Burning Love, S3 will feature past contestants living at the house and participating in contests and races to win the staggeringly inadequate grand prize of $900.)

And, as with anything Marino touches, the best part was the Q&A. If you've never seen a Ken Marino Q&A, it's a glorious thing. God help the moderator who does anything other than stand back and let that guy run wild, because homeboy requires no moderating. Martin Starr joined in for the Q&A, and the evening ended in chaos when the whole cast took pictures with and gently molested a passed out drunk in the audience. AMAZING.

Want to catch eps of the show? (Yes. You do.)
