Marvel Hires A Brass Man To Play GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’S Drax The Destroyer

WWE's Dave Bautista it is.

Marvel Studios let out a plume of red smoke today. It appears that the Thunderdome-esque big man battle for the role of Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film has been won by WWE's Dave Bautista, formerly seen by tons of disappointed people as the brass guy in The Man With the Iron Fists.

The early headliner for this fight was Conan and Game of Thrones' Jason Mamoa, but he ended up chickening out before the battle even began. That left Bautista to contend with such google-worthy names as Patrick Wade and Isaiah Mustafa.

I was kind of hoping for Isaiah Mustafa myself. While Marvel has proven to be smart above all with their casting, Dave Bautista strikes me as kind of characterless. I like his chain of arcade/restuarants but feel he leaves a lot to be desired charisma-wise.

Surely I'm wrong, though. And I can't wait to find out how and why I'm wrong, because that would require a viewing of Guardians of the Galaxy, and the sooner that happens the better.
