Sam Raimi Is Coming To Television

This time as a director.

Deadline reports that Sam Raimi will be directing a pilot for Fox called Rake. My dictionary tells me a rake is a gardening tool. This titular gardening will be played by Greg Kinnear, who is still kicking it at 30 years old no matter how many years go by.

Here's a synopsis:

Based on the Australian comedic drama, Rake follows the chaotic and comedic life of criminal defense lawyer Keegan Joye (Kinnear), brilliant, frustratingly charming, and with zero filter.

I have no idea what that means. But it does indicate that Kinnear's character will be a bit of a boorish dumbass, which would make him a perfect Raimi protagonist.

So far, Raimi is only attached to direct the pilot, but he will serve as executive producer for the pilot as well.

This isn't Raimi's first foray into television. He produced Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, which was a big hit with young boys, Xena: Warrior Princess, which was a big hit with girls who don't like boys, and the kind of awesome and still under seen American Gothic, which was a big hit with little kid me.

Hopefully Rake is awesome whenever it finally comes out. Production starts in just a couple days, so we should be seeing it pretty soon.
