These new character posters for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby make me feel instant irritation and claustrophobia as soon as I lay eyes on them. So they are very much from a Baz Luhrmann film. I know the guy has his fans, but save for Strictly Ballroom, I am not one of them.
I do like that he's out there, though. His films are definitely unique and highly identifiable. Based on the extremely loud and cacophonous trailer, no one asked him to reign his impulses in for The Great Gatsby, so if you're a fan, this one is likely to put a smile on your face. I'm still waiting for them to tell us the whole film was an April Fool's Day joke, which means it already has some value.
These close-up posters are kind of a step down from the medium shot character posters we got last December. I might like them more if I were looking at them from across the room, though.
