This Saturday, the Friar's Club Comedy Film Festival is screening a double feature of Zero Charisma (read Devin's glowing review here) and Awful Nice, and they want to give away five pairs of tickets to lucky BAD readers in New York!
Zero Charisma, Katie Graham, Andrew Matthews, 2013:
Metal-loving gamer geek, Scott Weidemeyer, lives with his ornery grandmother and works a lousy job at a donut shop. But every Tuesday night, he is the omnipotent Game Master, guiding his role-players through a tabletop journey of fantasy and adventure. However, when neo-nerd hipster Miles joins his game, Scott begins to resent the admiration Miles receives from the other players. To make matters worse, the health of his grandmother begins to falter, and his estranged mother visits town, reminding Scott of a childhood he’d just as soon forget. Caught in a spiral of rage and delusion, Scott is forced to take drastic steps to reclaim his honor, and his identity as the Game Master.
Screening at 5:30pm at the SVA Theater, 333 W 23rd St, New York, NY 10011.
Awful Nice, Todd Sklar, 2013:
When Jim - a disenchanted yet highly popular college professor - learns of his fathers death, he must track down his deadbeat brother Dave and deliver him to the funeral. Upon arrival, they both learn that they've each inherited one half of the family's vacation home in Branson, Missouri, and in order to sell the house - which they both badly need the money from - they'll need to travel down to Branson, and the ensuing trip both fixes their house, as well as their relationship.
Screening at 8:00pm at the SVA Theater, 333 W 23rd St, New York, NY 10011.
