You've probably heard of the kids book written for adults called Go The F**K To Sleep (psst… the * and the * stand for a U and a C) thanks to Samuel L. Jackson's wonderful rendition of which went viral a couple years ago.
For those who are unfamiliar, Go The Fuck To Sleep is basically all about how much it sucks to have children. The only time when they're okay is when they're asleep. But they're so young and stupid, they actually love life and can't stand the idea of missing a second. This means they fight sleep off as long as possible.
Adam Mansbach had a kid who pulled this shit, and he turned his frustrations into a poem/book which was then purchased by lots of other parents who think using expletives when talking about children is the epitome of retaining a youthful spirit even within the narrow confines of domesticity.
This book made money. Partly because of celebrity readings (Herzog!). So obviously it should be a movie.
That may seem stupid because how do you make a movie about a kid who doesn't want to go to sleep? Well, the concept is pre-sold, so why even waste time worrying about that?
Instead of being written by just one dude, Fox has hired a husband and wife team to shovel this crap: Ken Marino and Erica Oyama. If Ken Marino's name sounds familiar, that's because he's one of those The State and Wet Hot American Summer guys.
Since Marino and Oyama are husband and wife, it stands to reason that they'd have much more to say about how much children suck. Hopefully the film is a big success, so we can get the sequel: That's Not the Beer I Asked For, You Fucking Bitch and trilogy-capper: Remember When You Pulled The Plug On Me When I Was Playing Nintendo, Mom? Well, Now It's My Turn To Pull A Plug! LET'S SEE HOW YOU LIKE IT!
