Real Life Badass: 14 Year Old Pro-Choice Activist Demolishes Haters

A girl protesting for her reproductive rights in Texas was labeled a whore by internet trolls. Her response is awesome.

14-year old Austinite Tuesday Cain took to the streets with thousands of others to protest Texas' impending legislation that would drastically impact a woman's right to choose in that state and that would close most abortion clinics. She came up with a sign concept that was intended to be provocative and get attention, and it worked. Her message?

Jesus isn't a dick, so keep him out of my vagina.

Brilliant. Besides being eye-catchingly clever, it's a nice way of reminding the anti-abortion types that a lot of their behavior wouldn't sit well with their Lord and Savior. Once again, the Christians were being the least Christian people.

When a picture of the sign went viral, the haters came out in a big way on the internet. One of the most popular epithets thrown at this 14-year old girl was 'whore,' a grotesque word to fling at a child. Today Tuesday gave up her anonymity to write a message to her haters on xojane.com, and I think it's a wonderful piece. This teen has more class and smarts than almost any of the adults who have been flaming her.

An excerpt:

Normally, I prefer to look up to adults as role models. But what is happening in Texas right now it's hard to find adults who I want to look up to.

I don't look up to an adult who is taking away a woman's right to choose.

I don't look up to an adult who is calling a 14-year-old girl a whore.

I don't look up to an adult who is screaming in my face and saying I am ugly.

And I certainly don't look up to anyone who says they are Christian but treats women the way I've been treated these past few days as a teenage girl.
