Steven Spielberg’s Sci-Fi Series EXTANT Sounds Pretty Cool

But it's on CBS, so.

I'm a fool. I continue to get excited about the premises of shows that will one day air on CBS, and I should know better. I was so, so excited about Under the Dome. I am not excited about that show anymore.

But I'm still sort of excited about this one.

Steven Spielberg is producing a sci-fi thriller for CBS, who gave the pitch a straight-to-series order for Summer 2014 in the hopes of replicating their (commercial, if not critical) success for Under the Dome, for which Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment is also responsible.

Extant is described as a futuristic thriller about a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history.

I'd argue that you don't really need to say "female astronaut," particularly when the word "her" is used immediately afterward in the sentence, but hey. It's a sci-fi thriller with a female lead. Pretty cool.
