Time Is Waning On The Fantastic Fest Intergalactic Fantastic Bumper Contest!

Seriously, get on it.

Hurry up! Tomorrow at 11:59pm CT, we will no longer accept submissions for our INTERGALACTIC FANTASTIC FILMMAKING FRENZY BUMPER CONTEST 3013 A.D.!!! Submit a bumper that is 30-45 seconds in length, is about intergalactic...stuff, and ends with the words "that's fantastic!" That is ALL you have to do, and if you do it well, you could win two VIP badges to Fantastic Fest 2014!

A reminder of the fine print:

To celebrate mankind’s supreme domination of the universe, this year’s Fantastic Fest bumper contest embraces the purest forces of cosmic power and interstellar impossibility. We call on you few brave cinemanauts to hail our extraterrestrial neighbors with a 45-seconds-or-less cinematic whamazoid. Whether you’re contributing a planet-shattering space opera or E.T. slipping on a banana peel, we’re assured that your artistic vision will lead to harmony throughout the solar system… or get us vaporized by hostile invaders. Either way, we invite you to blast off for maximum adventure into the unknown, with Fantastic Fest’s INTERGALACTIC FANTASTIC FILMMAKING FRENZY BUMPER CONTEST 3013 A.D.!!!

Fantastic Fest, The Alamo Drafthouse and Badass Digest are thrilled to present the Fantastic Fest 2013 Bumper Contest. Every year Fantastic Fest hosts a bumper creation contest where we invite the Fantastic Fest community to create the most outrageous and entertaining video possible. We use as many entries as we can and play different bumpers onscreen before every single screening during the festival with two goals in mind: 1) to represent the creativity (and often twisted sense of humor) of the Fantastic Fest community and 2) to ensure that unlike other festivals, the audience at Fantastic Fest won’t have to sit through the same six or seven bumpers over and over again.

Your bumper can be almost anything you can imagine, but we have three ground rules:

The theme this year is Intergalactic Fantastic. Feel free to interpret that in whatever manner you choose.

The video must be between 15 seconds and 45 seconds.

The last line of dialogue or narration in the video must be, “That’s fantastic!”

All film entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on September 10 to be eligible.

All 2013 Fantastic Fest bumper videos selected by our programming committee will be screened in front of an unsuspecting audience during Fantastic Fest (September 19-26, 2013). Each of those audiences will include visiting filmmakers from around the world, press from the likes of Badass Digest, IFC, TwitchFilm, The Dissolve, Fangoria, SlashFilm, Film Threat, Ain’t It Cool News, ScreenCrush, Variety and more, plus a legion of the most devoted and intelligent genre film fans on the planet.

The Fantastic Fest programming committee will select the Top 4 bumper finalists, and members of the Filmmaking Frenzy voting community will select the 5th finalist. The Top 5 bumpers will play at the Fantastic Fest 2013 Awards Ceremony, and the audience will select the grand prize winner. That winner will receive two VIP badges to Fantastic Fest 2014! These VIP badges are always sold out by the end of the previous year’s festival, and they are seriously hot ticket items. VIP Badges include an exclusive limited edition t-shirt and poster, plus a souvenir Fantastic Fest shoulder bag filled with tons of fun swag. The main benefit of the VIP badge, however, is guaranteed admission to the movie of your choice at any given showtime for next year’s Fantastic Fest.

So best of luck and be fantastic!

We already have a bunch of great bumpers that have been submitted, so go HERE to see them and vote on your faves. And don't just be a spectator - go HERE to submit your own hyper-short film about space business. It's super easy! And don't forget to do some rabble-rousing on social media to scare up votes for your film so you can be our audience favorite and assure your spot in the Top 5. And either way, if you follow the rules, your bumper will play onscreen at Fantastic Fest, which is pretty inarguably cool, yeah?

Seriously, hop to. Why are you still sitting there?
