The trailer for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has some definite good/bad stuff happening. It's got a great energy, Dane DeHaan's lab of horrors is super cool (do I spot tentacles?), and the chemistry between Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker is palpable even in the few seconds they share together.
BUT...it looks like they're still devoting significant story time to the mystery with Peter's dad, a weak plot that devalued Spider-Man's origin in the first movie and is sort of a dud, storytelling-wise, aside from that. And, man, does that battle between Spidey and Electro in the final few seconds of the trailer look like some marvelously crappy CGI mess.
So I don't know. It looks better than the first, I believe, but that's certainly damning it with faint praise. What do you guys think?
