This FRANK Clip Will Make You Want To See The Film

Michael Fassbender bravely tries to get by without his fancy face.

I think Devin might have listed Frank on the last episode of The Badass Padcast Podcast as one of the Sundance films he's really excited to see. After watching this clip, I'm totally with him. Except I'm not actually with him. But it is cold where I am.

As far as I can tell, Frank does not have a real trailer yet, but this clip almost works like one. The plot is pretty strange, so I'll just leave it to someone else's synopsis to tell you what it's all about:

Frank is a comedy about a young wannabe musician, Jon, who discovers he’s bitten off more than he can chew when he joins a band of eccentric pop musicians led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank and his terrifying sidekick, Clara. Frank’s uniqueness lies in the fact that he makes music purely for the joy of creating… and because he wears a giant fake head. After a rocky start, Jon ingratiates himself with the band members, and they retreat to a cabin in the woods to record an album. As his influence waxes, creative tensions mount, and the band’s entire raison d’être is called into question.

This is all based on the true story of Chris Sievey, a musician and comedian who wore a fake head and called himself Frank Sidebottom. His equally cartoony girlfriend was named Francis Sideboob. Unfortunately, she died before sideboobs became en vogue. And we're still waiting for sidebutt to come in style. Parts of this paragraph are not true.

Maybe the strangest thing about this film is that non other than Michael Fassbender plays Frank, which means one of the world's most handsome faces hides behind a mask. I've always found Fassbender kind of humorless, so I'm excited to see him in this sort of role. The film also features Maggie Gyllenhaal and Scoot McNairy.
