Thanks to The Lego Movie, we're going to have to wait at least a couple months before bad mouthing movie concepts that sound ridiculous from the get-go. Like, for instance, a live-action Minecraft movie.
For those who don't know, Minecraft is some sort of game where you walk around making things. I believe you can also put torches into cave walls. They help you see. Because it is dark in caves.
Even if I have no real idea what the game is about, people who aren't me number in the billions and every single one of them loves playing it. So the brand recognition is fierce. How it will turn into a film worth watching is another question altogether, one that likely doesn't even matter.
The film will be overseen by The Lego Movie's Roy Lee, probably the number one reason that movie was any good. So expect this movie to be just as good as Roy Lee's The Lego Movie, if not multiple times better.
