Gravy (Opening Night Film) DGA Theater, 7:00 PM Tue, Apr 01
James Roday 2014
The FCCFF is proud to present the World Premiere of acclaimed actor James Roday's directorial debut GRAVY as this year's Opening Night Film. An irreverent, daring, gory and always-fun horror comedy, the film walks a perfect line of tension and release, laughs and scares. The terrific ensemble cast including Gabourey Sidibe, Sarah Silverman, Paul Rodriguez, Sutton Foster, Michael Weston, Jimmi Simpson, Lily Cole and Gabriel Luna are always in pitch-perfect rhythm as this story of the wildest night in the history of Mexican restaurants unfolds.
Borgman (A Drafthouse Films title!) Dolby Screening Room, 6:15 PM Thu, Apr 03
Alex van Warmerdam 2013
An official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, Borgman is a darkly comic thriller certain to push the limits of your expectations - and then exceed them. A beautiful, offbeat story of a family caught in the unrelenting grip of an evil presence, featuring dry, wry humor, the film was the Dutch nominee for this year's Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. As a vagrant enters the lives of an arrogant upper-class family, turning their lives into a psychological, real disaster in the process, the film works on multiple levels, asking its viewers to come along for a fable that they'll not soon forget.
Witching and Bitching HBO Theater, 9:00 PM Thu, Apr 03
Álex de la Iglesia 2013
Spanish cinema genius Alex de la Inglesia (THE LAST CIRCUS; FERPECT CRIME) has never been one to restrain himself, and his latest is no exception. WITCHING AND BITCHING is an endlessly inventive, incredibly tasteless and always hilarious horror comedy that's definitely one of the highlights of this year's fest. The simple premise - Jewel thieves on the run come afoul of a coven of witches - gives de la Inglesia full birth to let his imagination run wild, and it goes into non-stop directions that few directors outside of Terry Gilliam could come up with. It's a one-of-a-kind picture from a brilliant comedy director working at the top of his talents. Don't miss this one! (Matthew Kiernan)
Eddie Mullins 2013
Dirty Fred (Justin Rice) and Bruho (Leo Fitzpatrick) are free-wheeling squatters with a taste for off-season vacation homes in the Catskills. Their commitment to the lifestyle is challenged, however, when a runaway teen and an aimless young woman join their ranks.
