Simon Pegg’s Bitter War With STAR WARS May Be Over

Rumors say the actor is in EPISODE VII.

You'd think Simon Pegg burned all of his Star Wars bridges along with all of his Star Wars merch on the series Spaced, as well as in every interview he did in the last few years. After all, Pegg has a story about how he flew to America to see Episode I early and how it broke his heart and how he was pretty much done with the franchise after that. But then JJ Abrams, who cast Pegg in the Mission: Impossible and Star Trek movies, took over Star Wars and all of a sudden it seemed like maybe there could be a reconcilation. But no! Pegg went on the record saying:

“I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting.”

Which is very noble. But which may have collapsed in the face of an offer.

According to IGN Middle East (yes, this exists), Pegg was spotted on the Episode VII set in Abu Dhabi. That's a long way to go just to say hi, especially since the movie was going to be shooting in England immediately after, where the stages would be an hour or so drive for Pegg. If he was on the set - and IGNME says he was - it makes sense he'd be doing some sort of role.

What sort of role? Under make-up? To be painted over by CGI? As Tim Bisley, reconciling with his childhood? As Scotty, buying dilithium crystals?
