Whenever I think of Heaven, I always envision a black and white version of Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep as sort of cosmic beings watching over me with somewhat concerned looks on their faces. I also see myself as a pair of good looking young adult actors. So this poster is totally up my alley. Now whenever I want to think of Heaven, I don't have to. I can just look at this wonderful work of fine art.
Because I went to what I believe may have been a subpar school, I do not know much about this book. It is apparently another Young Adult dystopia novel, but it's also supposed to be one of the good ones. Or one of the classics, anyway. Despite my never reading the book, its cover was something of a ubiquitous image for me growing up. I can't help but wonder if the movie would do just as well if they used that instead.
Hypotheticals are fun, but it's better to confront the world we actually have. And in this world, the poster for The Giver is an image of two youngsters being watched over by a celestial pair of sourpusses. Fun city!
The Giver will be given to us on August 15.
