It better be good.

I absolutely adore Disney's Enchanted, the 2007 live-action princess spoof directed by Kevin Lima and starring Amy Adams, Susan Sarandon, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Idina Menzel and Timothy Spall. It's just about the most charming movie ever made, thanks almost entirely to a hilariously effervescent performance by Adams. It's full of great gags for those who grew up on the Disney Princess movies, the script is really clever and the action's a blast, but I seriously doubt any of it would work without Adams.

So the news that a sequel is in the works - to be directed by Step Up (!) and The Proposal's Anne Fletcher and written by Shrek 2's J. David Stem and David N. Weiss - could be good, but I'm reserving judgment until we hear if Adams (or any of the rest of the cast) is returning. It feels odd to announce the project without having any of the cast attached, but maybe Adam's involvement is just a press release away. Here's hoping - otherwise, forget this movie.
