2014 is a banner year for big screen science fiction. We've had Edge of Tomorrow, Snowpiercer and this weekend we have Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Guardians of the Galaxy looks great. And at the end of the year comes The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, which judging by the teasers that have been released, will be leaning heavily on dystopian politics in a way that gets me all squeeing and excited.
The latest video teaser has Beetee, played by Jeffrey Wright, hacking into a President Snow transmission to Panem. It's simple, it's just Wright looking into a camera, but it rules. It rules because it sets up the sense of revolution, that this series is really going places. I know that friends who have read the books tell me to reign in my excitement, but I think Mockingjay is going to end up a much better movie(s) than the book.
