THE JUNGLE BOOK Has Its Mowgli
All this talk of Jon Favreau and Disney’s slightly live action version of The Jungle Book, and we never even knew who was going to play Mowgli, the book itself. Well now we know. After all this time, it has finally been revealed that Mowgli will be played by some kid you’ve never heard of.
But hey, it’s not like there are all that many kids we’ve heard of. Chosen from a billion auditions held all over the world, little Neel Sethi will take the role of Mowgli. This will be his first role, and it’ll be a doozy. Not just because it’s the lead in a big-ass Disney movie, but because he’ll likely be performing it in a cold studio surrounded by strange men in terrifying mo-cap costumes. Or something like that. I don’t know how this CG stuff works, but I do doubt Sethi will be eating Craft Services with Idris Elba and Ben Kingsley.
Hopefully this works out for the kid and doesn’t lead to a life of drug abuse and sorry convention appearances next to Stiles from Teen Wolf (the old one… or both, probably). Fortunately for him, he’s going to get to eat a lot of that great food from Favreau’s Cuban food truck. Those sandwiches looked delicious.
