SDCC: SONS OF ANARCHY Season Seven Will Be Crazy, Somehow

That Kurt Sutter knows how to control a panel.

Today’s Sons of Anarchy panel moderator introduced each actor on the panel along with the results of a poll predicting their chances of surviving the oncoming final season. That should probably put you in the right mindset for the types of questions they had to face. It was all about what was going to happen and who was going to die.

Obviously that’s not the kind of thing anyone’s just going to blurt out at Comic-Con. But even the most harmless questions - how much of Walton Goggins’ Venus Van Damme could we expect to see, for instance - got batted away by an immaculately tight-lipped Kurt Sutter. He not only dodged his own questions, but when faced with questions of their own, the actors frequently referred them back to Sutter, so he got to bat those away as well. He also got really choked up at one point while talking about the end of the show. This guy knows what he’s doing.

So we learned very little about Sons of Anarchy’s upcoming season except that it will be all kinds of brutal. We did get to see a brief trailer that offered glimpses of the cast in their daily season seven situations while Jax carves a swastika in some guy’s tummy and then pulls out a couple of his teeth. So there’s that.

Speaking of Jax, Charlie Hunnam couldn’t make it to the panel but sent a pretty amazing apology that featured him getting massaged by Mark Boone Junior while Tommy Flanagan buffed his fingers. So there's that as well.

Sutter did pimp out a Sons of Anarchy novel called Bratva that takes place some time after the end of season four. He also informed us that he’s discussing the possibility of a Sons of Anarchy prequel, perhaps in miniseries form, that would hopefully arrive a few years from now. It was also made pretty clear that we'll never get to see Bobby dress up like Elvis again, which in and of itself is kind of brutal.
