Alamo Drafthouse Kicks Off THE PREMIERE PROJECT With Awesome TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Mural

Heroes on a full wall.

So the Alamo Drafthouse has started a cool new art program called The Premiere Project. The idea is to have artists come paint huge (40’ tall x 75’ wide, so that’s not an exaggeration) movie-based murals onto the exterior wall of the Alamo Drafthouse Slaughter Lane Theater.

As you can see in the above video, this was kicked off with those rascally Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The massive tribute (done by Austin artist Mike Johnston, aka TRUTH) was finally revealed yesterday at an event which also included a TMNT party, a costume contest, and a martial arts demo, as well as a screening of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie itself.

This looks like it was a pretty great time, and I'm excited to see what gets painted on that wall next. With any luck, it will be R100 based.
