David Yates Could Return To The Potterverse With FANTASTIC BEASTS

The HARRY POTTER spin-off is feeling more and more like a HARRY POTTER movie.

How will Warner Bros make Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, their new spin-off of the Harry Potter franchise, feel authentically Potter? Well, they have JK Rowling writing the script, which certainly puts the complete stamp of authenticity on it. But now they're also going one further and are in talks with David Yates to direct the first film in the planned trilogy. WB had previously gone to Alfonso Cuaron, but that didn't work out. And anyway it's probably for the best, as Yates is the guy with whom the Harry Potter films will forever be associated, since he directed half of the original series. And now he'll be bringing a visual continuity to Fantastic Beasts, which is set 70 years before the first Potter film and features few, if any, returning characters.

The deal isn't done but apparently Warner Bros wants Yates and Yates likes making successful movies, so expect an official announcement any moment now. The movie will be released in November of 2016.
