Windmill your cocksock if you're excited for Magic Mike XXL, the sequel to the surprise hit based partially on Channing Tatum's real-life experiences as a male stripper. Steven Soderbergh isn't directing, but he's been on set shooting and producing, and the film is being directed by his longtime producing partner, Gregory Jacobs. This means I expect the quality to remain rock hard, just like Tatum's abs.
What's Magic Mike XXL about? We knew it was a road trip movie, now we have all the deets direct from Warner Bros:
Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, "Magic Mike XXL" finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
The road trip format gives Magic Mike XXL room to introduce some new actors, like Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Jada Pinkett-Smith, inveterate Twitter name searcher Andie MacDowell and Amber Heard.
Is it too much to ask for a Magic Mike/22 Jump Street crossover, where Jenko goes undercover as Magic Mike to get to the heart of a drug ring? Can we find out at the end that Magic Mike was Jenko all along?
