Looks Like Ryan Reynolds Will Get His DEADPOOL Movie

"It's chimichanga time," he said.

Today, Ryan Reynolds tweeted the following unsubtlety:

So it seems safe to assume that his long-teased Deadpool feature is materializing, and sure enough, Deadline soon followed with a report that Fox is closing a deal with Reynolds to reprise the character he first played in the execrable X-Men Origins: Wolverine. After that film, we heard plenty of rumors about Reynolds getting his own Deadpool feature, but soon after he was cast as the Green Lantern and everyone assumed he couldn't do both. Now that enough time has passed that we can all pretend Green Lantern didn't happen, Deadpool's back on the table.

I'll quote Deadline here, because they seem to remember more of X-Men Origins: Wolverine than I do:

When Reynolds made that first appearance as Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, he was a smart-mouthed mercenary with terminal cancer who undergoes military experiments in an attempt to replicate Wolverine’s mutant healing factor. He comes away with the ability to heal quickly, but for the price of being indestructible he is rendered severely scarred. His acerbic attitude remains, though, earning him the nickname “The Merc with a Mouth.”

Sure, I think I remember some of that. But what I do remember is that Ryan Reynolds is a charming fast-talker, and he'll make a good Deadpool. With The WolverineFirst Class and Days of Future Past wiping clean the slime trail left by X-Men Origins: Wolverine, this is no longer a rotten franchise, and it's a good opportunity for Reynolds to get his name back out there after the floundering of Green Lantern. So congrats all around, I guess.
