The last we heard about the future’s big Minecraft movie, Night at the Museum and Real Steel director Shawn Levy was going to direct. Instead someone directed him. To the exit sign. (This is the absolute lamest joke structure, and I am ashamed of myself for sinking to its level.)
Apparently, Levy and his writers, Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney (those names! I honestly cannot tell if this team is husband and wife, brother and sister, brother and brother, sister and sister, or what) shot a movie idea at Warner Bros. and the video game developers passed. So now that crew has “decided to leave” the project, leaving it ripe and open for Christopher Nolan to snatch up.
We’ll never know what Shawn Levy’s Minecraft movie was going to be like. God willing, someone will someday make a Jodorowski’s Dune about it.
