Paul Feig is still going to make his all female Ghostbusters movie, so don’t start pulling your hair out or anything like that. This is not about a replacement Ghostbusters movie. Just another Ghostbusters movie.
The idea is that Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt would star in a Ghostbusters film which would spinoff from Feig’s movie. This comes from an email Tatum wrote Sony’s Amy Pascal, which is just as awesome as you’d expect:
Let us show the world The DarkSide and let us fight it with all the glory and epicness of a HUGE BATMAN BEGINS MOVIE. I know we can make this a huge franchise. Fun adventure craziness. COME OONNNN!!!
That Channing Tatum. Anyway, the idea is for the Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Russo brothers to produce. As for a director, there seems to be optimism that Feig will actually do it.
Two things pop up in my head when it comes to this stolen email stuff. One, this particular story is all very uncertain and doesn’t mean anything concrete. And two, yuck. I don’t mind so much when it’s quoting Channing Tatum’s enthusiastic cheerleading, though.
So what do you think? If this were to happen, do you feel like it would be a movie you’d just die to see? I mean, it's hard to say no to a Channing Tatum-Chris Pratt bro-down, Ghostbusters or not. And even if it doesn’t go down quite like this, is Ghostbusters really going to become another massive active franchise with its own universe and all that jazz?
