Tim Burton Says He’s Back For BEETLEJUICE 2 And He’s Bringing Winona Ryder With Him

We’ll see, we’ll see.

A lot of times, people in the biz (short for "bizzzness") who aren’t really in control of the biz say this or that project is going to happen when they really don’t know. Often it’s really obvious. This one is somewhere between really obvious and possibly valid. I just have no idea.

MTV did an interview with Tim Burton recently and asked the director about the possibility of him directing a Beetlejuice 2. He says that the movie is happening and he totally will direct it. And then, when asked if Winona Ryder will return he claims:

“Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah,” he said. “Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah yeah, oh yeah.”

That’s a lot of yeahs. He seems pretty sure of things.

Michael Keaton has said that he would return for a second Beetlejuice film if Burton were to direct. So if this is really true, it sounds like all the important ducks are in a row, unless they plan on getting Alec Baldwin and/or Geena Davis back as well.

I don’t want a Beetlejuice 2, but if one has to happen, I sincerely hope Winona Ryder’s Lydia remains absolutely unchanged from the first film, the way a lot of late sequels treat their characters. Seeing someone stuck in teenage goth mode all the way into their middle ages might teach youngsters a valuable lesson on how goofy they look.
