Rock Beneath The Mistletoe With This JINGLE BELL ROCKS! Inspired Playlist
Every Christmas you hear the same songs. Sure, many of them are great (although Christ, that one about the Christmas shoes... yeesh...) but why are we stuck with the same jingling bells? With all of the holiday-themed music that's out there, why do we keep defaulting to Bing Crosby?
Jingle Bell Rocks! is a documentary about the search for the best underrated Christmas songs, and filmmaker Mitchell Kezin has enlisted the aid of people like Rev Run Simmons of Run DMC, Wayne Coyne, John Waters and Dr. Demento in his quest. The result is a road trip film that's also a social history, and it's on VOD right now. Click here for more info.
Kezin also reached out to friends who specialize in obscure Christmas songs to make playlists, and one of those people was BAD buddy Matthew Kiernan. When Matt - who does an annual Santapalooza mix CD filled with truly underground Christmas tracks - offered us his playlist, I jumped at the chance. So fire up the speakers, get some eggnog, hang some misteltoe on your belt buckle and get to listening.
